Novels – Lots of Types Available
A novel is basically a story in which there are many characters that depicts a scene or an event or represents a story line. A novel is based on intricacies that take place in a human life and thus, it is written by a human who has been through the phase or has seen the story closely and that is the reason he prefers to write it down in a story form. It is a fictional prose that is extended and lengthened and can be based on either romance, action, suspicion, entertainment, comedy etc. Reading a novel helps in character building and is full of moral teachings and lessons to be derived. It makes the reader prone to problems, to be analytical and how to manage certain things in life and what input would lead to what outcome. It contains two constituents; a story and a story teller. Also, it may involve some epic or historical facts, facts relating to myths, and fiction. A novel can also be adventurous and can make a person go lost in a fantasy world. Northrop Frye has rightfully said that, “Human character as it manifests itself in society.”
Some of the types of novels are comics, epics, historical, allegory, gothic, ironic, narrative, psychosocial, reflexive, romance and many more. Some of the types are discussed below:
TYPES OF NOVELS:
1. ALLEGORY NOVEL:
Many of the religious stories come under this category. This novel is a great source of entertainment. This represents earthly worries and involves lots of heavenly stories. Some of these types of novels also involve stories of journeying, travelling and the problems faced.
2. COMIC NOVELS:
They are novels based on absurdness. They are basically used to lighten one’s mood as they involve funny characters and hilarious sentences. These novels are said to have a pessimistic opinion bout life and its happenings. The people in comic novels behave irrationally and have lack of sense of everything. The character’s perception varies in every situation.
3. GOTHIC NOVELS:
These novels are based on the past events and happenings. They are basically that depicts a world that is created by an imaginary world and where the fantasy is built upon. They involve the existence of evil spirits and they depict a perfect world.
4. ROMANCE:
It involves two characters and the story is based on two main characters that are deeply in love with each other. Hence romance novels moves around these two characters and their life incidents.
